For something really different, why not host your child's next birthday party, or a picnic, or other event at Ironhorse park?
We are opening our park for this type of event again this year as these parties are becoming more
and more popular every year.
All parties must be held on one of our public run days, which are every Sunday during our run season (mid May to mid October). Two timeslots are available for parties. One is 11:00 AM to 1:00PM and the other is 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. You will supply the food, cake and drinks and in return you will have access to our parks facilities for up to 30 guests, which includes: | |

The cost for 2010 is $150. Parties are limited to 30 guests but more can be accommodated at an additional cost.
If you really prefer a private event on a Saturday (we need to bring in a crew to operate the trains) the cost is $250, assuming crews are available. To arrange for a party contact: |

Visit from the VSCCC (Vintage Sports Car Club of Calgary). "Our VSCCC monthly meeting was held in sunshine for the first time this year at the Iron Horse Park. The Park is a re-creation in miniature of the railway pioneer days in the Canadian West, and represents the Canadian Pacific Railway from the prairies to the coast. "The grounds are in a Park like atmosphere within the City of Airdrie. And what a great spot this organisation have worked into a park from what was originally nothing but a huge field of prairie. This purely coming about from the efforts of this Miniature Railway Society's extremely enthusiastic and active membership. Plus, being so infectious, they intend to continue making this park as strong as possible an attraction to the surrounding communities of Calgary and accessible Alberta communities. As is evident with them already attracting birthday parties, other special family occasions, and commercial business get together. So apart from young people and families, adults are as well drawn to this venue. This, take note, being very apparent from smiles and grins on the faces of our VSCCC members riding around on carriages at the back of two of the miniature engines {one steam powered and the other diesel powered} as the journey chugged throughout the parks well laid out track, trestle system and tunnel work. The track in fact in process of expansion to include a Centennial bridge to access more track extending trips around an under construction miniature mountain. Again all from volunteer work! Even some of the miniature train engines are built by volunteers. As one volunteer {Derek Beatson} over a number of years built his in his basement.
"Ride cost is a very reasonable $ 3.00; and drinks and munchies are available. The railway is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Sunday from the May long weekend until the Thanksgiving weekend of October. But as a special favour to VSCCC I was able to have them generously welcome us on our Wednesday meeting night of June 10th. For which we very much thank Iron Horse for their generosity. Thanks guys and gal for accommodating us. This Park should be on ones "timetable" to visit. Cheers, Mike Coe" |
